Dear friends! A LOT is going on right now and a lot has been going on for the last six months
with Sturm und Drang. Still we haven't updated our website for a very long time, we haven't
been sure what we can/should fill you in on and maybe we wanted to wait until we had something
ready for you. Anyways now we really feel it's time to fill you in on everything: what has
happened, what is happening and what will happen next.
As you all know bassist Henrik Kurkiala was fired and in February we started a public search
for a new bassist. We received dozens of good-looking and sounding applications and in May we
received an application from a bassist that we all felt was the "right guy" and after two
auditions with him he was in the band. Sturm und Drang still wanted to wait with announcing
the news until we were totally sure that the collaboration worked. Good thing that we waited
because in July he was no longer in the band, it just didn't work out, no hard feelings.
Also we have been writing and rehearsing loads of songs and recorded almost 15 demo's for
the next album and in May we started our collaboration with the American producer that was
going to produce the album. We test-recorded two songs and absolutely loved working with him
but when we were done with the songs we all realized that the musical direction of both the
production and the songs (all our 15 demo's) was totally wrong. This was indeed a huge setback
since that's almost like having to start all over again.
Now the good news is that THE SEARCH IS OVER!! Sturm und Drang has found a new bassist (again),
but this time it's for good! We don't want to publish his identity yet but we can tell you
that he fits like a glove and he totally belongs in the band. We have known each other since
early childhood and played together for almost five years so we just know that this is the
right thing. So it seems like the right answer was right under our nose all the time:)
So a BIG thank you to all who have applied , it was a pleasure viewing all great applications!
Anyways, as of now we are working full time with rehearsing and writing new material as well
as reworking some of the old 15 songs according to our new musical direction. We are also
negotiating with a new producer to produce the album so as soon as we got some good songs
we're ready to hit the studio! Of course this has taken way longer than we wanted but now
it really feels like we have the engines running! And in the end we wanna make a record we
can be proud of and that all you guys can enjoy, cause we're doing this for you!
I´m sure you will all love the album (don't worry , it won't sound like Phil Collins;) ) !
So now we will keep updating this website every week for all our wonderful fans with news of
the progress. Our Facebook and Twitter accounts are under construction so soon you can follow
us there aswell! Eventually also a video diary and a studio blog will be added to this website
so stay tuned!

Searching For a New Bassist // 15/02/2010
The search for a new bassist has now officially begun. Sturm und Drang will do a public search for a bassist, so now anybody in the age 16-22 who wants to become Sturm und Drang´s permanent new bassist can apply.
So if you are a bassist in the age 16-22, you think you have what it takes and you want to become Sturm und Drang´s new bassist then send an application by E-mail to this adresse:

In your application please include these things:
-Personal Introduction (Who you are, name, age, where you live, work/study etc.)
-Your experiences as a musician (How long you´we been playing, bands you´we played with, gigs etc.)
-Your musical influences (What musicians/bands you like/admire/listen to)
-Why you would like to join Sturm und Drang
-A picture of yourself
-A video or audio clip where you are playing bass
or a link to a video or audio clip where you are playing bass
Sturm und Drang will view all of the applications and then the best bassists will be chosen for a live audition.
